Attack on the sanctity of the State of Junagadh and the Royal Family is intolerable. Junagadh Federation

Junagadh State Muslim Federation has welcomed the decision of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in which legal action will be taken against a YouTube video based on a derogatory and misleading attack on the royal family of Junagadh.

In a statement issued by it, the Federation on Wednesday termed the FIA’s move as a timely and bold step. The organization’s spokesperson said that the social media clip was an attempt to assassinate the character of a respected woman and her family, which also aimed to deliberately damage the historical identity of the former princely state.

The Federation stressed that this video is an attack on the sentiments of the Junagadhi people. It maintains that the State of Junagadh has a distinct historical and legal status, and its royal family has been a symbol of honor and dignity for centuries.

The statement said that any kind of ridicule or false propaganda targeting the state or its royal family is intolerable.

The FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing was appreciated for taking the legal route and registering a First Information Report (FIR) under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 on the complaint. The Federation considers this decision a symbol of justice and an encouraging message against the rampant use of social media.

The organization paid tribute to the individuals and institutions involved in initiating the action and said that they acted according to the law despite facing social pressure and negative online campaigns.

The Federation stressed that freedom of expression does not provide a license to individuals or groups to spread lies or slander. It reiterated its belief that the rule of law is the only way to protect society from fake news, blackmail, and digital terrorism.

The Junagadh State Muslim Federation confirmed that it is closely monitoring the legal progress of this case and will continue to use every available constitutional and legal forum to defend the sanctity of the state, its history, and the Nawab family.
