Customs authorities have confiscated a significant quantity of smuggled Iranian diesel, valued at over 12 million rupees, during a targeted raid along the city’s Northern Bypass, disrupting an illicit fuel storage and distribution network.
The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Karachi, initiated the coordinated action during the early hours of Friday based on credible intelligence. According to a press release, the pre-dawn timing was strategic to prevent the contraband from being moved to another location.
During the raid, teams under the supervision of senior officers discovered several concealed tanks and makeshift storage facilities. The search resulted in the recovery of approximately 42,200 liters of the unlawfully imported Iranian fuel.
Following the seizure, the confiscated petroleum product was transferred to the Caspian State Warehouse in Korangi for secure custody.
This enforcement action is part of the Federal Board of Revenue”s (FBR) stated policy to combat the smuggling of petroleum products. Officials noted that such illegal activities inflict substantial losses on the national exchequer and undermine legitimate commercial trade.
The agency reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against smuggling, emphasizing rigorous enforcement nationwide to protect national revenue and support lawful businesses.
