Azerbaijan Eyes Investment in Pakistan’s Motorway Projects


Baku, Azerbaijan: Federal Minister for Communications, Privatization and Board of Investment Abdul Aleem Khan, accompanied by a high-level delegation, engaged in discussions with Azerbaijan’s Minister for Digital Development and Transport, Rashad Nabiyev. The talks centered on potential Azerbaijani investments in Pakistan’s motorway projects, particularly the M-6 and M-9 routes linking Sukkur, Hyderabad, and Karachi.



According to a statement by Press Information Department, a delegation from Azerbaijan is scheduled to visit Pakistan in February to evaluate feasibility and explore investment opportunities. The meeting also explored possibilities for Business-to-Business and Government-to-Government partnerships in highway construction between the two nations.



Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized the importance of enhancing transportation links from Pakistan to Central Asian States. He highlighted the potential for bilateral cooperation in communications to bolster logistics, underscoring the historical and friendly ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.



Azerbaijani Minister Rashad Nabiyev expressed interest in advancing bilateral cooperation and investment with Pakistan, noting the delegation’s visit as a promising step. The meeting addressed mutual investment prospects under Public-Private Partnership frameworks, with detailed briefings on the M-6 and M-9 motorway projects.



Officials from both countries also discussed rail, road, and other communication means. Pakistan’s delegation, including the Chairman of the National Highway Authority, Coordinator of SIFC Lt. Gen. Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Federal Secretary Petroleum Momin Ali Agha, participated in the talks.



Minister Abdul Aleem Khan’s visit to Baku is expected to include further meetings with Azerbaijani government officials to strengthen ties and explore additional collaboration opportunities.
