Balochistan announces 60-day special remission for prisoners

QUETTA: The Balochistan government on Friday announced a 60-day special remission to all the convicted prisoners confined in jails and judicial lockups of Balochistan province on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr 2021, except those prisoners who are undergoing sentences for heinous offences like sabotage, bomb blast, subversion, espionage, anti-state activities.

An order issued by the provincial home ministry says, “In exercise of powers conferred by Section 401 of Cr.P.C and with the prior approval of competent authority, the Government of Balochistan, Home and Tribal Affairs Department is pleased to grant sixty (6) days “Special Remission” to all the convicted prisoners, confined in Jails and Judicial Lockups of Balochistan Province on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr-2021, except those prisoners who are undergoing sentences for heinous offences like Sabotage, Bomb Blast, Subversion, Espionage, Anti-State Activities, Terrorism Act (as defined in ATA), Murder, Rapes, Unnatural offences, Kidnapping, Abduction, Robbery, Dacoity, Foreign Act 1946, those undergoing cases under NAB ordinances 1999 and for offences specified under Chapter-XVI of Pakistan Penal Code and for those who have individually been awarded special remission by the Provincial Government in the current year (2021) under Rule-216 of Pakistan Prisons Rules”.

Meanwhile, Moulana Abdul Qadir Luni, Provincial Ameer, Jamait Ulema-e-Islam has said that due to the sacrifices redered by mujahideen-e-Islam, United States of America suffered crushing defeat in Afghanistan. These views were expressed by him while addressing a gathering held to offer condolence for the departed soul of Shaheed Hikmatullah. Luni said that imperialist forces waged a war against Millat-e-Islamia. He said that sacrifices rendered by mujahideen (holy warriors would ever be remembered. He added that due to the sacrifices redered by mujahideen-e-Islam, United States of America suffered crushing defeat in Afghanistan.
