Balochistan Schools to Reopen With Mandated Five-Day Week After Crisis Closure

The Government of Balochistan has announced that all educational institutions will resume classes from 1 April 2026, following a shutdown prompted by ongoing crises and fuel conservation efforts, while simultaneously implementing a new five-day working week across the sector.

A formal notification was released on Tuesday by the province”s School Education Department, confirming the decision for all public and private schools to reopen on Wednesday. This directive is a continuation of previous communications dated 9 March and 26 March that ordered the temporary closure.

In response to the “prevailing situation,” the government has mandated a revised schedule. All schools, along with the Provincial Directorate, Divisional Directorates, and the District Offices of the School Education Department, will now operate from Monday to Friday.

Consequently, Saturday and Sunday are now designated as official off days for the educational sector throughout the province.

The official communication stressed that despite the new weekend policy, all scheduled examinations and assessments will proceed without alteration. Educational authorities have been instructed to adhere to the previously notified examination timetables.

All concerned officials, including Divisional Directors, District Education Officers, and heads of institutions, have been tasked with ensuring the strict dissemination of and adherence to the new regulations.
