A security guard who opened fire on a woman at a bank within the jurisdiction of Paposh Nagar police station on Thursday has been taken into custody, offering conflicting motives for discharging his weapon.
Upon receiving information about the shooting, a police contingent was dispatched to the scene, where they promptly arrested the suspect involved in the incident.
The arrested individual has been identified as Saleh. Authorities have also recovered a pistol from his possession.
In his initial statement, the accused guard claimed that the shot was fired by mistake. However, during detailed interrogation, he changed his statement, saying he knew the woman and alleged that she was blackmailing him.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that further investigation into the motives and other aspects of the incident is underway and appropriate legal action is being taken.
