The body of a 7-year-old girl, missing for five days, was recovered from a local canal in a sack today, an incident that has sparked widespread condemnation and civil unrest. Preliminary investigations suggest the child was tortured and sexually assaulted before being murdered, shaking the entire community.

The victim, identified as 7-year-old Amina, daughter of local mosque’s prayer leader Ghulam Haider, went missing after leaving for school in the Jhalori area. Local police had registered an FIR on her father’s complaint. The investigation took a grim turn on Sunday when authorities, acting on a tip-off, recovered a sack containing the girl’s body from the Deka branch canal.

At the hospital, the girl’s father fainted upon identifying his daughter and was admitted due to his deteriorating condition. According to a doctor, there were signs of torture on the girl’s body, and it was revealed that she had been sexually assaulted before being murdered.

A murder case has been registered against unknown individuals during the investigation of this heinous act. Police officials have stated that the actual motives for the murder will be known after receiving Amina’s final medical report. The DIG and SSP of Mirpurkhas have taken strict notice of this horrific incident and issued directives for the immediate arrest of the involved culprits.

In response to the girl’s brutal killing, a shutter-down strike was observed in Jhalori town and its surrounding areas, while protesters burned tires on the roads. The incident has been strongly condemned by Provincial Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, MNA Mir Munawar Ali Talpur, former MNA Syed Ali Nawaz Shah, and leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, the Central Traders Association, Citizen Action Forum, PTI, and other religious parties, all of whom have demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits.
