By-election: Ex-PM leading in Faisalabad

Faisalabad: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan is leading the by-polls in Faisalabad as per the unofficial results.

According to a report, the results from 28 polling stations, out of 254, have been received by the RO office. Imran Khan has so far bagged 5,804 and PML-N leader Abid Sher Ali 4,415 votes.

Reports said the process of polling was stopped after a rumpus at a polling station in Faisalabad. The commotion took place after men polling agents entered station No 305 (allocated for women). The polling staff called the Rangers to deal with the situation.

Also, Three persons were held in constituency PP-139, Sheikhupura over violation of the election code of conduct. District Police Officer (DPO) Faisal Mukhtar said that the police arrested three supporters of a candidate for the Punjab Assembly.

“The police impounded their vehicle and also recovered arms from their possession,” he added. “A case has been registered against them. Violation of the election code of conduct will not be tolerated,” he warned.
