Campaign against government employees driving without licenses in Islamabad

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has initiated a special operation targeting unlicensed government employees in the capital. The campaign, running from September 17th to 26th, aims to facilitate public servants in obtaining driving permits. Following the directive of IGP Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, traffic offices and mobile units will provide comprehensive support.

After the September 26th cutoff, strict enforcement will commence against any government worker operating a vehicle without a valid license. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad, Capt. (retd) Hamzah Humayun, explained the initiative follows observations during recent crackdowns on illegal parking in Secretariat Blocks, revealing a significant number of unlicensed government drivers.

Capt. Humayun stressed the importance of leading by example. He stated that government workers should be accountable before enforcing regulations on the public. He affirmed that all ITP resources would be utilized to aid license acquisition until the deadline.

Beyond September 26th, no exemptions will be granted, regardless of departmental affiliation or rank. Unlicensed drivers face potential vehicle impoundment and departmental action. The CTO emphasized that this effort seeks to improve traffic safety and efficiency and urged prompt compliance from all government departments and personnel.
