LAHORE: Unidentified robbers shot dead a Hafiz-i-Quran (teacher of a Madrassa) for resisting dacoity in Hanjarwal area of Lahore on Thursday.

Qari Hafiz Nauman was going in a car when the robbers stopped him and opened fire on him. The police started investigation analyzing various aspects of the murder including resistance on robbery.

The deceased imam was a Qari of the mosque and a Madrassa. The police have taken the body into custody and started the investigation.

LAHORE: The District and Sessions Courts in Islamabad on Thursday awarded death penalty to a TikToker on charges of dacoity and murder.

The court also awarded a penalty of Rs0.5 million as fine to TikToker Aliyan in the murder case while seven-year prison and Rs30,000 fine for committing a dacoity.

Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra announced the reserved verdict on the murder case registered at Golra Police Station. According to the details, Muhammad Niaz alias Aliyan stole a car from 28-year-old Khurram Akbar in May of last year and killed him for resistance.

Deceased Khurram Akbar was heading to Islamabad from Gujranwala late at night. A 30-bore pistol has also been recovered from the accused, the police said.

Aliyan threw the weapon in the bushes near the murder scene, the police added. According to statement of Aliyan, he was present in Peshawar when he got the news of the murder, the court said.

Text of the verdict declared that there is no witness to the statement of the accused TikToker and the witnesses also identified the culprit at the crime scene. In light of the evidence, the witnesses, Aliyan was convicted of murder and dacoity, Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra announced.

JAFFARABAD: Man, and a woman fell prey to honour killing in Goth Ibrahim Badini area of Jaffarabad in the precincts of Police Station Dera Allah Yar in Balochistan province on Thursday.

According to police, husband shot dead his wife Lal Bibi and her alleged paramour namely Ali Dost in Goth Ibrahim Badini area of Jaffarabad in the precincts of Police Station Dera Allah Yar. The assailant managed to escape after committing the crime.

The bodies were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Jaffarabad for completion of necessary medico-legal formalities. The bodies were later handed over to the heirs after completing medico-legal formalities. Further investigation was being conducted by the authorities of Police Station Police Station, Dera Allah Yar.

KARACHI: A harrowing incident unfolded in Karachi on Thursday morning as a woman and her three children were discovered killed, as their throats were mercilessly slit in their residence in Sher Muhammad Goth, located within the city's Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, local local authorities said.

The victims were identified as Saima, her two-year-old son Ahd, seven-year-old Shahzain, and nine-year-old Ashhad. The law enforcement revealed that a sharp implement had been used to inflict the grievous injuries.

Promptly following the discovery, the lifeless bodies were shifted to a medical facility to undergo requisite legal procedures. Arshad, the husband of the deceased woman, has been taken into custody for comprehensive investigation. Notably, he was absent from the residence at the time of the tragic incident, as per police reports.

Imdad Ali, the uncle of the deceased children, told media that he received a distressing call from his brother Arshad around 12:30 am upon his return home. Upon reaching the residence, he was confronted with the chilling sight of his elder nephew's body in the porch, while the lifeless bodies of the two other children and his sister-in-law were discovered in other rooms.

QUETTA: Ruler machine ran over a young man in Khayaban Agha Gali, Subzal Road area of Quetta on Thursday, killing him on the spot.

According to rescue sources, one man namely Hikmatullah Pirkani, 20, son of Shair Muhammad Pirkani, resident of Noshki was knocked down by a ruler machine in Khayaban Agha Gali, Subzal Road area of the provincial capital. The body was shifted to Bolan Medical Complex Hospital, Quetta for completion of codal formalities.

The body was handed over to the heirs after fulfilling necessary medico-legal formalities. The incident has created a mourning atmosphere in the victim’s home. Further investigation was being conducted by the concerned authorities.

KARACHI: In a significant move, Karachi police on Tuesday claimed to have apprehended a suspect linked to the attack on a Peoples Bus during the May 9 mayhem in the capital city of Sindh province.

According to the police, the wanted accused Zeeshan was taken into custody by District East Police in an operation near Shahrai-e-Faisal. Zeeshan was accused of indulging in May 9 riots by attacking a Peoples Bus in Karachi.

The accused bus attacker was captured in the act of setting the bus on fire, with law enforcement authorities claiming to possess substantial evidence against him, including recorded footage of the incident.

The nationwide upheaval erupted on May 9 following the apprehension of the former prime minister at the Islamabad High Court in a corruption case. The disturbances extended beyond Karachi, with violent protestors targeting the Corps Commanders House in Lahore and other military installations.

QUETTA: Security forces conducted search and sweep operations against terrorists in different areas of Quetta, said a statement issued by the spokesman for CTD, Quetta on Tuesday.

In view of the threat of outlawed organization to target the headquarters of Counter Terrorism Department, Quetta, security forces, including CTD, conducted search and sweep operations in different areas of the provincial capital, including Brewry Road, Essa Nagri, Muslim Ittehad Colony, Exchange Road, Baloch Colony, A-One city, Faisal Town, Killi Ismail, Huda Mano Jan Road, Killi Barat and Killi Shabu. Record of suspicious persons was checked through bio-metric.
