SHC extends pre-arrest bail to Wassan till 20 March

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday extended the pre-arrest bail of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Manzoor Wassan till March 29 in asset beyond income case. A two-member bench of the SHC heard the pre-arrest bail plea of PPP leader Manzoor Wassan pertaining to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) inquiry in assets beyond income sources. During the hearing, the court asked the NAB prosecutor to provide the progress of the investigation against PPP leader. The prosecutor informed the court that NAB chairman had instructed to continue inquiry against Wassan.   Wassan’s counsel, Barrister Zameer Ghumro, argued that despite the passage of 20 months, the NAB could not inform the court pertaining to progress into the inquiry. SHC annoyed at police performance in missing person’s cases

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday expressed anger over police performance in the recovery of missing persons. A two-member bench of the SHC, headed by Justice Naimtullah Phulapoto, heard petitions for recovery of missing persons including Omar Siddiqui, father of 10 children. The court observed that police officers are not working. “Only paperwork is completed as the result is zero,” the court remarked.   The families of the missing persons were also in the courtroom. SHC judge refuses to hear NICVD plea against FIA probe

KARACHI: A Sindh High Court (SHC) judge on Tuesday refused to hear a plea against Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for conducting an inquiry against National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD).   The high court’s judge Justice Mubeen Lakho refused to conducting a hearing of the case due to some personal affairs. The court ordered to cotinine stay order and adjourned the hearing till 3 March.   It issued notices to advocate general Sindh and Attorney General (AG) Pakistan. Langove condemns over killing of three labourers

KARACHI: Mir Zia Langove, Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs has expressed heartfelt grief and sorrow over the killing of three labourers in Khurasani area of Tehsil Manguchar district Kalat.   According to a statement issued here on Monday. Taking strict notice of the incident, Langove sought immediate report from Deputy Commissioner, Kalat.   He directed concerned authorities to apprehend perpetrators of crime. Expressing sympathies with the members of bereaved families, Langove said that perpetrators of this heinous crime deserved no favour.

20 kg high quality hashish seized in Khuzdar

KHUZDAR: Levies Force Khuzdar claimed to have seized 20 kg high quality hashish in an operation in Khuzdar on Sunday.   Addressing a press conference at Levies Headquarter Khuzdar, Incharge levies headquarter Khuzdar, Ali Akbar Qumbrani, said that 20kg high quality Hashish was recovered from Mazda vehicle NAE-454 at levies check post Chakaku.   He said that driver of Mazda, Saleh Muhammad, son of Akhtar Muhammad, a resident of Quetta; Bismillah, son of Abdul Ali, a resident of Killa Abdullah, and Gul Muhammad, son of Fateh Khan, a resident of Quetta were arrested. He said that detained smugglers wanted to smuggle hashish to Karachi.

Protesters demand arrest of accused

LARKANA: Relatives of victim Dilbar Oad held a protest demonstration by keeping his body on SSP Chowk here on Saturday, demanding arrest of his killers.   His brothers Mashooque, Manthar Oad and others complained before media persons that their brother was looted of Rs30,000 cash on 20th January 2021 in the morning by two armed motorcyclists but he resisted their move and they fired at him due to which he was injured.   They said the injured was shifted to Civil Hospital, Karachi, where he succumbed to his injuries yesterday.
