Two dacoits killed in police encounter in Lahore

LAHORE:Two alleged dacoits were killed in an encounter with police near Manga Mandi area of Lahore, police said on Tuesday.

Police said criminal record of those killed was being checked; however their identity could not be established as yet. The Force said there was a possibility that the slain dacoits might have been involved in an incident of dacoity and murder that took place in the area just couple of days ago.

Giving more details, investigation head said that the police conducted a raid to arrest hardened criminals. “On seeing police, the dacoits opened fire,” he said, adding, “The police retaliated. He said that SSP Dr. Anush had especially constituted a team for the purpose.

CTD arrests four street criminals in Karachi

KARACHI:The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Karachi has arrested four street criminals in an operation on the University Road on Monday. The CTD officials have said they have also recovered bullets, weapons, two stolen cars, number plates of cars and other items from the possession of those taken into custody namely Fahad, Amir, Shah Rukh and Zahid Aslam.

They have further said that the suspects had been committing street crimes for the last 10 years, and had even gone to jail several times. They have informed that those arrested are being questioned and they are expected to make some important revelations.

FIA again arrests Ch Pervaiz Elahi in money laundering case

LAHORE:The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has again arrested former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in a money laundering case on Monday. Pervaiz has been taken into custody from outside the Camp Jail. The FIA has already registered a case against his third wife Saira Anwar, who, the Agency alleges, has committed corruption of billions of rupees and then laundered the money abroad.

The FIA officials have said that former chief minister will be presented in court today. Just a day ago, the ex-chief minister was granted bail in the money laundering case. Earlier on Monday, Federal Investigation Agency’s anti-money laundering team had arrested former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s gunman Chaudhry Muhammad Zaman, who also worked as Pervaiz’s cash boy. Zaman was allegedly also the business partner of ex-chief minister’s wife Sara Anwar.

Police had also arrested Zaman in February 2023 when he was allegedly supplying wine to Sara. The FIA has said it has obtained important evidence by conducting the forensic of Zaman’s cellphone.

FIA arrests two more human traffickers

KARACHI:The anti-human trafficking circle of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two suspects in a crackdown against the human traffickers in Karachi. FIA officials said Ghulam Abbas was arrested from a local hotel near Cantt Karachi Station during an operation. The accused was involved in minting money from the innocent people in the name of sending them abroad.

In another operation, Tahir Mehmood was taken into custody from Agra Taj Colony. The accused was pointed out by those people who got deported from foreign countries. According to the FIA officials, the accused had given fake visas to the deported passengers while raids are being conducted to arrest his other accomplices. It merits mention here that the agency has intensified its operations against the traffickers across the country after the migrants’ boat tragedy in Greece.

LAHORE:Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday directed the concerned officials to formulate a comprehensive policy for meat export. Chairing a meeting in Lahore, the chief minister also sought a plan for making improvements in dairy and livestock sectors. The meeting also decided to take steps on a war footing for the promotion of beef, mutton and poultry industries in the province. The meeting was briefed that billions of dollars could be earned in foreign exchange through the export of beef, mutton and poultry. It was decided to approach the federal government in order to remove impediments in the way of export of these items. The meeting decided to declare Bahawalpur a ‘meat division’, while proposals to declare Dera Ghazi Khan a ‘mutton division’ were also discussed. It was told that there was a need to adopt latest methods of farm management and vaccination. It was informed that Punjab had the potential to export livestock and dairy products worth billions of rupees to Saudi Arabia and China. The meeting was briefed that more production of dairy products could be achieved through cow calf and black grounding. The meeting stressed the need for the mechanization of poultry industry. CM Naqvi directed the secretary livestock to meet Chinese counsel general for the purpose. Fawad Mukhtar, Naveed Iqbal and Professor Talat Naseer Pasha gave briefing to the participants. Provincial Minister for Livestock Ibrahim Hassan Murad, chief secretary, Planning and Development chairman, secretary local government, secretary finance and other concerned officials were in attendance.

LAHORE:Two little girls were burnt by some unidentified persons in Ghaziabad area of Lahore on Sunday. Rescue 1122 personnel, some unidentified persons sprinkled petrol on the two girls and set them on fire at a house in Ghaziabad area of Lahore.

The rescue team shifted the girls namely 13-year-old Tayyaba and seven-year-old Maafia to a local hospital. According to police, both the girls were standing on the roof of the house when the incident occurred. Police further said that they had started investigation into the incident after collecting evidence.

Pushtoonabad police arrests proclaimed offender

QUETTA:Pushtoonabad police claimed to have arrested proclaimed offender while TT pistol and live rounds were recovered from the possession of another alleged accused in two different operations conducted in the precincts of police station Pushtunabad, Quetta on Friday. Separately, police constable sustained injuries in a firing incident near Sangeen Hospital Airport Road area of the provincial capital.

Following the directions of Inspector General of Police, Balochistan, Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, staff of Police Station Pushtoonabad, Quetta under the supervision of ASI Haji Khudaidad Achakzai arrested proclaimed offender Abdul Muhammad Barakzai son of Muhammad Naeem Barakzai, resident of Abu Bakr Masjid Gali, Pushtoonabad in a raid conducted at the residence of proclaimed offender near Abu Bakr Masjid Gali Pushtoonabad, Quetta. The accused, wanted in First Information Report (FIR) No. 28/2023 under sections 324, 342, 147, 148 and 149, was shifted to Police Station Pushtunabad and handed over to the Investigation Staff of PS Pushtoonabad, Quetta for further investigation. Further investigation was underway.

Separately, one TT pistol along with five live rounds were recovered from the possession of one alleged accused namely Ezatullah Kakar son of Saleh Muhammad Kakar, resident of Bhosa Mandi, Eastern Bypass by the staff of Police Station Pushtoonabad under the supervision of ASI Haji Khudaidad Achakzai in an operation conducted within the jurisdiction of Police Station Pushtoonabad, Quetta.

Moreover, unidentified gunmen shot and injured police constable near Sangeen Hospital, Airport road area of the provincial capital. According to detail, police constable Abdul Razaq resident of Police Colony, Airport was shot and injured by unidentified assailants near Sangeen Hospital, Airport road area of Quetta. The assailants managed to escape after committing the crime. The injured constable was rushed to Sandeman Provincial Hospital Quetta for treatment. Further investigation was being conducted by the authorities of Police Station Airport Road, Quetta

CTD arrests terrorist involved in blasts on railway tracks

HYDERABAD:Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) informed on Wednesday that they have arrested a terrorist belonging to proscribed organisations. According to CTD spokesperson, one terrorist was arrested during the operation whereas the other fled the scene utilizing the advantage of the darkness. The CTD claimed to initiate a search operation and set-up checkpoints in the area to arrest the fleeing terrorist. The spokesperson said that the arrested terrorist carried out an explosion at Bhulari railway track on March 23, 2023.

The spokesperson further mentioned that explosives and hand grenades has been recovered from the possession of the terrorist and a case against him was registered. The law enforcing agency claimed that the process of investigation was underway and further information would be revealed as the proceedings will progress.
