Three persons bitten by stray dog in Naundero

NAUNDERO:Three people were bitten by a stray dog near Jag Chowk here on Saturday night. They include Mahboob Bhatti, Rahmat Shah and Kabir Bhutto.

Bhatti was bitten in the face hence he was referred to Chandka Medical College Hospital as there are no emergency medical treatment facilities at the Government Hospital here which is claimed to be 100-bed capacity but all its beds remain empty due to lack of doctors and other medical facilities.

The affected people complained to media persons that there was no duty doctor at the Government Hospital, Naundero, hence they were provided first aid by a dispenser without administering anti-rabies vaccine.

They said that the constituency of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and MPA Faryal Talpur has been left at the mercy of their creator as there were no proper healthcare facilities in the hometown of Bhutto leaders which is always claimed to be the political Kibla of the ruling party.

They said they will not eat hospital buildings but they need essential medical facilities which are lacking in the hospital for the past 14 years for which no concrete efforts have so far been taken to fulfill its requirements despite massive media reports. They asked where they should go during night time when there was no duty doctor to provide emergency treatment and management. They demanded provision of all required facilities or else, they warned, they would hold protest demonstrations seeking their basic rights.

Dr. Rahmatullah Shaikh, Medical Superintendent (MS), Government Hospital, said that the District Health Officer, Larkana, has already been sent a list of shortfalls in the hospital in November which also include acute shortage of doctors, other staff and equipment but so far nothing has been done. He said that previous MS also wrote several letters even to higher authorities but without any fruitful result till to date. He said he can only write to the government and has no further powers to pressurize them. He said that almost all the bed of the hospital are empty due to unavailability of required facilities.

Transporters hold demo, demand shifting of PCG check post

LASBELLA:Transporters of the province have called on authorities to shift the check post of Pakistan Coast Guard Khhari district Lasbella to the maritime zones of the province so that the said force could do the job it was established for.

These views were expressed by transporter Haji Dad Muhammad Achakzai and other transporters after blocking Quetta-Karachi main highway near Gadani area of district Labella in Balochistan province on Sunday against the high handedness of Pakistan Coast Guard Khari Check-post, District Lasbella.

On the occasions, Haji Dad Muhammad Achakzai, who is the owner of Al-Mehmood Coach Company, set ablaze the passenger coach of Al-Mehmood Coach Company as a protest against the high handedness of Pakistan Coast Guard, Khari check Post. He said that anti-smuggling authority had been vested in Pakistan Customs, but the officials of Pakistan Coast Gurad had made the lives of the people, particularly transporters, miserable.

He said that with the exception of transport, no facility had been provided to the people of the province to earn their livelihood. Achakzai called on Corps Commander, Southern Command, Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo and other authorities to shift the check post of Pakistan Coat Guard, Khari to the maritime zones of the province so that the said force could do the job it was established for.

Two killed, six injured as blast rocks Bajaur area

BAJAUR:Two persons were killed and six others were injured in a remote controlled blast in an area of Bajaur district, ARY News reported on Sunday.

In Mamond Kamarsar, a far-flung area of the former tribal area, a vehicle of the supporters of Awami National Party (ANP) was attacked with remote-controlled bomb leaving two people dead on the spot. Six persons sustained serious injuries in the attack. The injured were immediately shifted to district headquarter hospital in Khar.

The dead bodies were sent to the native areas of the blast victims. Security forces and police cordoned off the area after the bomb attack and launched a search operation to arrest the attackers. Polling for the first phase of local government elections in 17 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been underway today.

Polling began at 8:00 in the morning, will continue till 5:00 pm without any break. Polling has been underway in Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Khyber, Mohmand, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Haripur, Buner and Bajaur districts.

2,032 elected unopposed in KP LG polls

PESHAWAR:As many as 2,032 candidates have been elected unopposed during the first phase of local government (LG) polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in 17 districts.

Polling for the first phase of local government (LG) elections in 17 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is underway. Polling began at 8 in the morning, will continue till 5 pm without any break.

2,032 candidates have been elected unopposed including 217 on general seats, 876 on women seats, 285 on farmers’ seats, 500 on youth seats and 154 on minorities seats.

In Peshawar, 62 candidates have been elected unopposed on general seats, 145 on women seats, 105 on farmers seats, 45 on minorities seats.

In Nowshera, 12 candidates were elected unopposed on general seats, 51 on women seats, 19 on farmers seats, 34 on youth seats and 11 on minorities seats.

Nine candidates were elected unopposed on general seats in Charsadda, 55 on women seats, 9 on farmers seats, 30 on youth seats and 9 on minorities seats.

Twenty-four candidates were elected unopposed on general seats in the Khyber district, 51 on women seats, 18 on farmers seats, 30 on youth seats and 12 on minorities seats.

In Mohmand district, 15 have been elected unopposed on women seats, 5 on youth seats, whereas, 9 on general seats in Mardan, 99 on women seats, 38 on farmers seats, 68 on youth seats and 15 on youth seats.

In Swabi, 18 candidates were elected unopposed on general seats, 84 on women seats, 40 on farmers seats, 57 on youth seats and two on minorities seats.

In Kohat, six were elected unopposed on general seats, 61 on women seats, 8 on farmers seats, 23 on youth seats and 10 on minorities seats.

In Karak, nine candidates were elected unopposed on women seats, one on farmers seat, two on minorities seats. In Hangu, 14 were elected unopposed on general seats, 24 on women seats, 16 on farmers seats and one on minorities seats.

In Bannu, three were elected unopposed on general seats, 22 on women seats, 5 on farmers seats, 11 on youth seats and 7 on minorities seats.

In Lakki Marwat, 11 were elected unopposed on women seats, 3 on farmers seats, 11 on youth seats and 5 on minorities seats. In Dera Ismail Khan, 12 were elected unopposed on general seats, 53 on women seats, 12 on farmers seats, 28 on youth seats and minorities seats.

In Tank, 18 have been elected unopposed on general seats, 26 on women seats, 13 on farmers seats, 20 on youth seats and 3 on minorities seats. In Haripur, 18 candidates were elected unopposed on general seats, 78 on women seats, 14 on farmers seats, 50 on youth seats and 4 on minorities seats.

Customs seizes foreign goods worth Rs24 million

ZIARAT: Collectorate of Customs Balochistan claimed to have seized foreign gears worth Rs24 million in an operation conducted at Customs Check post, Ziarat cross in Balochistan province on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the media cell of Collectorate of Customs Balochistan, staff of Customs ceased foreign gears, including betel nuts, non-custom paid foreign clothes and other gears from a 10-wheeler-truck laden with coal in an operation conducted at customs check post Ziarat cross.

Smugglers intended to smuggle the seized items to Punjab, however, staff of Customs foiled the bid. The seized items were shifted to the customs house Collectorate of Customs, Quetta for taking further legal action. Operation was conducted by Superintendent, Saleem Agha and Incharge, customs check post, Ziarat cross, Ahmed Nawaz Zehri in compliance with the directives of Chief Collector, Collectorate of Customs Balochistan, Muhammad Sadiq and Collector (Preventive), Dr Fareed Salarzai.

Relief gears handed over to IEA

CHAMAN: Deputy Commissioner, Chaman, Dr. Juma Dad Mandokhail, said on Friday that relief gears, including edible items and warm clothes, had been handed over to the authorities of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to assist the people of Afghanistan on humanitarian basis.

These views were expressed by him while talking to media, including PPI, at Chaman along Pak-Afghan border after handing over trucks laden with edible items and warm clothes to Molvi Akhtar Muhammad, leader of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan at Chaman border.

Mandokhail said that relief gears provided by Pak-Afghan Cooperation Forum and Fateh Foundation were handed over to the authorities of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to assist the people of Afghanistan on humanitarian basis.

Anti-terrorism court in Gujranwala turned 33 suspects over to police on 17-day physical remand

GUJRANWALA: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Gujranwala on Friday turned 33 suspects over to police on 17-day physical remand in the Sialkot lynching case.

The police produced the suspects in court and requested their physical remand for investigation. The court approved 17-day physical remand of the suspects and directed the police to present them on the completion of their remand on January 3.

Priyantha Kumara, a 49-year-old Sri Lankan national, was lynched by a mob at a factory where he worked as its manager on December 3. A first information report (FIR) was registered against hundreds of unidentified men, including workers of the factory.

Scores have since been arrested and are facing investigation. It is noteworthy that the suspects will be tried inside prison due to security reasons. The Punjab government and prosecution team last week decided to conduct the jail trail of the high-profile case due to security concerns.

The decision was reached during a meeting of government functionaries and the prosecution team to maintain law and order situation and avoid any untoward incident, they said. The jail management has been instructed to make all the arrangements for the jail trail.
