Opinion Poll: (58% Pakistanis believe that people who see nothing good in Pakistan should be exiled: Poll)

ISLAMABAD: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 58% Pakistanis believe that people who see only problems and nothing good in Pakistan, should be exiled from Pakistan.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “To what extent do you agree with the following statement: [Some people can only see problems in Pakistan. Such people should be exiled from the country?]”

In response to this question, 58% agreed with the statement, while 28% disagreed. 14% did not know or did not wish to respond.

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.

The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1506 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, June 11 – June 18, 2018. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.

LEAs on alert about law and order situation

KARACHI:The spokesman of Sindh government has categorically denied the rumours being spread through social media about law and order situation and stated the caretaker provincial regime has taken foolproof security measures in connection with the general elections 2018.

According to a statement issued here on Tuesday, the spokesman elaborated that the law enforcement agencies were continuously vigilant about the law and order situation, as sufficient number of law enforcement personnel, including army, rangers and police, had been deployed in the polling stations so that the culprits could not succeed in their nefarious causes.

The spokesman further appealed to the masses not to pay heed towards the rumours and take part in the general elections without any fear. The government is well aware of its responsibility of safeguarding the lives and properties of the masses and have managed all its resources for free, fair and transparent administration of general elections, he concluded.

CICT-IBA to participate in 18th ITCN Asia IT and Telecom Show

KARACHI:Center for Information and Communication Technology-Institute of Business Administration (CICT-IBA) and Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the participation of IBA as a knowledge partner for 18th ITCN Asia IT and Telecom show.

The MoU was signed by Imran Batada, Director ICT and CICT, IBA and Umair Nizam, Vice President, Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan. The 18th ITCN Asia IT and Telecom show will be held from 25-27 September 2018 at Karachi Expo Center.

The 18th ITCN Asia IT and Telecom Show’s scope is expected to be greater than all its previous annual events, with numerous new features added to it.It expects more than 600 international and domestic brands with 150 foreign delegates and participants from more than 25 countries. Over 50 startup companies and experts along with 100,000+ visitors are expected to attend the event. It is designed to create major opportunities for business-to-business alliances, leveraging their mutual strengths for capacity-building in this fast-evolving industry.

Judge’s statement criticized

KARACHI:A group of lawyers under the banner of Human Rights Committee of Pakistan (HRCP) criticized a recent statement of Justice Shaukat Siddiqui.

Mubashir Bhutta, Afzal Roshan, Bilal Akram and Asif Abro, addressing a press conference here on Tuesday in Karachi Press Club (KPC) demanded probe into reservations and allegations of Justice Shaukat Siddiqui.

They feared such statements can be harmful against the integrity of the country and its institutions. They opined that that there was no pressure on judiciary it was working freely.

Sports: Netball: PNF picks 23 players for camp ahead of Asian Championship

Karachi:Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) has picked 23 players for training camp for the preparation of Asian Women Netball Championship, which will be held in Singapore from September 1 to 8.

After conducting trials for two days, PNF selection committee selected 23 players here at PSB Coaching Centre. More than 60 players from all over the country took part in the trials.

PNF will hold one-month training camp ahead of Asian Women Netball Championship here at PSB Coaching Centre from August 1. Coaches Shazia Yousaf and Anwaar Ahmed will train the players during the one month training camp.

A total of 13 teams will take part in the championship including Pakistan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India, Maldives, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Maldives, Brunei, Chines Taipei, Thailand and Singapore.
