Two dead in Kohlu clash

Quetta:Two persons were killed and seven others injured during exchange of firing between two groups over land dispute in Kuchar Saheja, suburb area of Kohlu, on Monday, said police.

Injured persons were shifted to District Headquarters hospital Kohlu where after providing initial treatment, three critically injured persons were referred to Punjab.

A large contingent of police reached the site after the incident and cordoned off the area. Police arrested one alleged accused from the spot while Risaldar Major Levies Shair Muhammad Marri said that the levies also arrested another alleged accused who was trying to escape to Punjab via Babartak.

Ehsaas program payments begin at Sibi

Quetta:Payments under Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme began to provide pecuniary assistance to the lockdown affected families of Sibi.

A centre for the purpose was set up at Numaish Ground. Deputy Commissioner Sibi Dr Yasir Khan Bazai visited centre on Saturday. On the occasion, Inayatullah Kasi Assistant Commissioner Sibi,Tehsildar Naseer Tareen, Risaldar Major Arif Marri, Assistant Director BISP and political and social personalities were also present.

Praising the arrangements made by authorities, Deputy Commissioner Bazai said arrangement made by authorities in the wake of covid-19 were up-to the mark. He said the government was committed to providing pecuniary assistance to the families affected by lock-down in the wake of the outbreak of covid-19.

100 trucks cross Afghan border

Quetta:On the request of Afghan government, Pak-Afghan border at Chaman was opened unilaterally for trade.

Some m100 trucks laden with fresh vegetables and fresh fruit entered Afghanistan through Bab-e-Dosti Gate on Friday. Pakistani drivers handed over laden trucks to Afghan drivers at Zero point. Afghani drivers are bound to return trucks after unloading. These trucks were completely sprayed before handing over to Afghan drivers.

Border will remain open for three days in a week for supplying fresh vegetables and fruits to Afghanistan. During these days, 100 trucks laden with edible items will be permitted to enter Afghanistan while Pak-Afghan border will remain closed for NATO supply and other trade activities.

Preventive measures stressed to fight coronavirus

Quetta:Senator Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan Nasar, Central Vice President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has said that fight against Covid-19 pandemic can be won with the help and cooperation of masses. He said Covid-19 can be fought effectively provided preventive and precautionary measures are adopted and proper social distances is maintained.

He said District Administration Duki must expedite consulting traders, political parties and others for the purpose of creating awareness amongst the people regarding threat posed by covid-19. He said district administration must refrain from torturing and arresting respectable citizens. These views were expressed by him while talking to different delegations that called on him at his resident at Duki on Friday.

He said novel corona virus had affected more than 190 countries including Pakistan and treatment of this pandemic had not yet been discovered. He said that experts of World Health Organization and other health related institutions were unanimous on this point that people could be protected from novel corona virus when Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) of World Health Organization were followed. He urged people to abide by the advisory issued by the government and extend help and cooperation to police and district administration in combating covid-19 pandemic.

PM Khan visits quarantine centre in Quetta

Quetta:Prime Minister Imran Khan reached Quetta on Thursday. At the airport, he was received by Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan.

Prime Minister Imran Khan paid a visit to Quarantine Centre at Bolan Medical College Hospital Quetta. Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri and Provincial Minister for Colleges, Higher, Technical and Secondary Education Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind also accompanied him.

Chief Secretary Balochistan Captain (r) Fazeel Asghar gave detailed briefing about the quarantine centre.

No coronavirus case in Ziarat

Quetta:Deputy Commissioner Ziarat Captain (r) Mehrullah Badini said that no case of novel corona virus has been detected in District Ziarat; however, the people must adopt preventive and precautionary measures against covid-19 pandemic.

He urged people to stay home, avoid shaking hands, wash hands and follow other instructions to remain protected from this pandemic.

He said District Administration Ziarat and Health Department have completed all arrangements to combat the outbreak of covid-19, adding that steps are being taken to create awareness regarding novel corona virus. He said Isolation centres have been established in different hospitals of the District. He urged people not to violate lock-down.

Probe committee police torture to doctors

Quetta:A special committee has been constituted to probe into the incident of alleged maltreatment and beating of Young Doctors and Paramedics who were protesting for their demands on April 6, 2020 at Zarghoon Road (Red Zone), Quetta.

The committee comprises Senior Superintendent of Police Operations, Quetta, Representative of Young Doctors Association, Representative of Balochistan Constabulary not below the rank of SP and a representative of DC, Quetta not below rank of AC shall submit its detailed report to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Quetta within 5-days for further course of action.

A handout issued by the office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Quetta mentions Terms of Reference of the subject committee; (a) The committee shall hold meetings on daily basis (2) To inquire into the circumstances leading to the clash between police and YDA (c) To scrutinize all available videos and other materials to ascertain misuse of force, if any (c) To fix responsibility.
