Chief of Army Staff confirms death sentence awarded to 15 hardcore terrorists

Rawalpindi, December 16, 2018 (PPI-OT): Today, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) confirmed the death sentence awarded to 15 hardcore terrorists, who were involved in heinous offences related to terrorism, i.e. attacking the Armed Forces/ Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan, abetting suicide bombers in an attack on Christian Colony near Peshawar, destruction of educational institutions and killing of innocent civilians. On the whole, their terrorist activities resulted into death of 34 persons, including 21 Armed Forces, 9 Frontier Constabulary and 2 Police Officials alongwith 2 civilians, whereas, injuring 19 others. Arms and explosives were also recovered from their possession. These convicts were tried by special military courts. Besides, 20 convicts have also been awarded imprisonment. Details of each case is as under:-

1. Hameed Ur Rehman S/O Moazmin Mullah. The convict was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies and Armed Forces of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Major General Sana Ullah Khan, Lieutenant Colonel Tauseef Ahmed, Naib Subedar Muhammad Aslam and 18 soldiers. The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and during his statement at the trial. He was awarded death sentence.

2. Said Ali S/O Munawar Khan. The convict was a member of proscribed organization. He was involved in attacking Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Civilian Shah Nazar, Naib Subedar Muhammad Hanif, Havildar Muhammad Naseer, Havildar Muhammad Qayyum Ahmad alongwith 2 soldiers and injuries to 8 other soldiers. He was also found in possession of explosives. The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and during his statement at the trial. He was awarded death sentence.

3. Ibrar S/O Abdul Rahim. The convict was a member of proscribed organization. He abetted suicidal bombers in attacking Christian Colony near Peshawar by planning the said attack and providing weapons/suicidal jackets/ transportation to suicide bombers. Resultantly, an innocent civilian Samuel Sardar lost his life and three other civilians were injured. The convict was also found in possession of explosives. The convict confessed his offences before the Judicial Magistrate and during his statement at the trial. He was awarded death sentence.

4. Fida Hussain S/O Muhammad Hussain, Raza Ullah S/O Ikram Ullah, Rahim Ullah S/O Fateh Khan, Umar Zada S/O Bashar, Amjad Ali S/O Muhammad Ajan, Abdur Rahman S/O Abdul Wahab, Ghulam Rahim S/O Munjra Khan, Muhammad Khan S/O Ghulam Haider and Rahim Ullah S/O Noorani Gul, Rashid Iqbal S/O Hameed Iqbal, Muhammad Ghafar S/O Qari Muhammad Zarif and Rehman Ali S/O Muhammad Aziz. All the convicts were members of proscribed organization. They were involved in attacking Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan, which resulted in death of Assistant Sub Inspector Noor Zaman, Naib Subedar Hussain Faraz alongwith 4 other soldiers and injuries to 5 others. The convicts were also involved in destruction of Government educational institutions in Swat. They were found in possession of fire-arms and explosives as well. These convicts admitted their offences before the Judicial Magistrate and also while making statement at their respective trials. They all were awarded death sentence.

Rawalpindi, December 15, 2018 (PPI-OT): Installation ceremony of Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Artillery was held at Artillery Centre, Attock. General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Chairman JCS Committee was the Chief Guest at the Occasion.

Gen Zubair Mahmood Hayat, CJCSC pinning ranks on the shoulders of Lt Gen Humayun Aziz, to formally install him Col Commandant of the Regiment of Artillery. The ceremony was attended by a large number of serving and retired Gunner officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and soldiers. Speaking at the occasion, Chief Guest lauded contributions of Artillery in war and peace.

Terrorists targeted one of the vehicles of security forces through IED. 6 security personnel embraced Shahadat. In exchange of fire four terrorists killed.

Rawalpindi, December 13, 2018 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) deployed at Joint Check Post Ghazi Ghat / Dera Ghazi Khan apprehended a group of indls involved in Hawala / Hundi. Rs 30 Million (3 Crores) cash hidden in a sack from their car were recovered. Apprehended individuals belong to Swat and DG Khan and have been handed over to FIA / Police authorities for necessary legal action.

216th Corps Commanders’ Conference held at GHQ presides by General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff

Rawalpindi, December 13, 2018 (PPI-OT): 216th Corps Commanders’ Conference was held at GHQ presided by General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS). Forum reviewed geo-strategic environment with special focus on regional security and situation on Eastern and Western Borders including Line of Control. Progress of ongoing stability operations for internal security was also discussed.

Forum highlighted importance of regional approach to eliminate roots of terrorism and attached hopes for success of ongoing Afghan reconciliation process while supporting all stakeholders to bring Afghan war to a peaceful logical conclusion. Forum also pledged to safeguard against all external threats while consolidating gains of counter terrorism military operations which have put security situation of the country on positive trajectory for socio-economic progress and development. “We shall continue to support all state institutions for peace, stability and progress of the country in best interest of the people of Pakistan”, COAS concluded.

Belarus envoy calls on Chairman JCS Committee

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff visits forward troops in Gadra Sector Sindh

Karachi, December 12, 2018 (PPI-OT): General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) visited forward troops in Gadra Sector Sindh. COAS commended operational preparedness and high state of morale of the troops. He said that Pakistan Army is fully committed to guard the frontiers of country. Lieutenant General Humayun Aziz, Commander Karachi Corps accompanied the COAS during the visit.

Later, COAS visited Thar Coal Project. He was given detailed briefing on the progress of the pilot projects. Talking on the occasion, he said that internal security situation of Pakistan has largely improved paving way for foreign investment. We will continue to play our part in ensuring secure environment for business and entrepreneurship in Pakistan by both local and foreign investors. Lieutenant General Tariq Khan (Retired), Managing Director Fauji Fertilizer Company received COAS upon his arrival.
