Pakistan is poised to take a prominent position in the global gaming and animation industry with the establishment of a new center of excellence. The Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, in collaboration with Ignite National Technology Fund and Hum Network Limited, has established the Center of Excellence in Gaming and Animation (SEGA), a revolutionary initiative to cultivate local talent and boost the national economy.
This ambitious project aims to nurture 200 startups and equip 10,000 young people with cutting-edge skills in gaming and animation over the next five years. A state-of-the-art co-working facility with 100 seats will also be established to foster collaboration and innovation among creative professionals.
The agreement formalizing this partnership was signed at the Ministry of IT, in the presence of Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Syed Amin Ul Haque, representatives from the Ministry, and officials from Ignite and Hum Network.
IT Minister Amin Ul Haque reiterated the government’s commitment to advancing the technology and creative sectors under the Prime Minister’s Digital Pakistan vision. He believes SEGA will provide youth with top-tier training, enhance the gaming and animation ecosystem, and ultimately contribute to national economic growth.
Hum Network CEO, Duraid Qureshi, emphasized SEGA’s focus on transforming the aspirations and innovative ideas of young people into reality. Ignite CEO, Asim Shahryar Husain, added that this project will provide youth with the necessary infrastructure and modern skills to achieve global success.
This initiative is part of Ignite’s broader objectives, which include the development of National Incubation Centers, research and development efforts, and specialized training programs in emerging technologies. SEGA strives to establish Pakistan as a regional powerhouse in game development and animation, propelling the country towards a prosperous digital future.
