Islamabad, September 16, 2021 (PPI-OT):Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani in his message on the occasion of World Democracy Day said that democratic system is the only way to ensure freedom of expression, accountability and provision of human rights. Under a democratic system, all political parties are increasingly involved in development prosperity and public service, which is a prelude to lasting peace and development for any country.

Sanjrani underscored that Democracy is the axis of the rule of law and basic human rights. The Chairman Senate said that a resolution of the UN General Assembly in 2007 had decided to celebrate World Democracy Day on September 15. September 15th has been celebrated all over the world as World Democracy Day since 2008 and the purpose of celebrating this day is to renew our commitment for the promotion and survival of democracy.

Referring to the role of Parliament, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani said that today the Pakistani Parliament has become much wider and clearer due to public outreach; gender sensitive and multi-pronged approach to inclusion of women and youth especially by the Upper House has set new examples in the way of Democracy.

As a symbol of the continuity of democracy, the Senate created constructive thinking. It became the voice of all units of the country for legislation and equal public representation. The Senate has set a milestone of promoting harmony among the provinces and giving equal representation to all the units of the country, which has strengthened both the federation and democracy.

Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani said that September 15th is a very important occasion in which we can review the development of the country and move forward with a plan of action for a bright future of the country. It is also an important day for raising public awareness about democracy and creating well-being, aspirations and a better lifestyle for the people.
