(City): One more Covid patient dies in Sindh; 271 new cases surface

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that one more patient of COVID-19 died overnight, lifting the death toll to 2,440 in Sindh so far.

This he said in a statement issued here from CM House on Friday. Shah said that 157 patients had recovered, raising the number of patients recovered so far to 126,861 that came to 96 percent recovery rate.

The CM said that 271 new patients emerged when 11,042 tests were conducted. So far 1,106,458 tests had been conducted which diagnosed 131,675 cases that constituted 12 percent overall detection rate.

Shah said that currently, 2,374 patients were under treatment, of them 2,075 were in home isolation, six at isolation centers and 293 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 148 patients was stated to be critical, including 17 shifted to ventilators.

The chief minister said that out of 271 new cases, 203 were detected in Karachi, including 86 from South, 45 Korangi, 32 East, 17 each from Central and Malir and six from West.

Jamshoro has eight cases, Badin and Dadu five each, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Tando Mohammad Khan and Thatta four each, Ghotki, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed Benazirabad three each, Kambar and Tharparkar two each, Larkana, Naushehro Feroze, Sujawal and Umerkot one each, sats the statement.
