Eid festivities in most areas of the city were severely affected due to poor drainage and sanitation arrangements, bringing the performance of Union Council (UC) chairmen under severe criticism.
According to details, the problems began with water accumulation following rainfall two days before Eid. Due to the lack of timely drainage measures, many streets and thoroughfares were submerged.
This situation created severe difficulties for residents in commuting. The submerged roads caused immense distress for the general public, while children were also badly affected by the poor sanitation conditions.
Residents expressed their disappointment, stating that effective sanitation arrangements were not made on such an important occasion. Several citizens pointed out that most UC chairmen were noticeably absent during the crisis.
The public expressed deep sorrow and regret over the situation, stating that their elected representatives should have been present to assist the community in such difficult times.
Civic circles have appealed to the relevant authorities to improve the city’s drainage system. They have demanded effective measures to avoid such situations in the future so that citizens do not have to face such hardships again.
