Closed mosques, madrasas, khanqahs, aastanas, and shrines be opened immediately : Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan

Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan’s central spokesman Dr. Younis Danish on Saturday strongly demanded from the government to immediately reopen all mosques, madrasas, and khanqahs, and criticized this attitude of the rulers as an “aggressive attitude” to please Western countries. He said these things during a JUP electoral meeting where new district leadership was appointed.

Addressing a large gathering of party leaders, scholars, and workers, Dr. Danish urged the administration to abandon its practice of “pushing those who raise their voice for the honor of the Prophet ? to the wall.” Demanding an immediate stop to all actions against religious centers, he stressed that the Ahl-e-Sunnat community has always been a supporter of peaceful and constitutional struggle.

As a result of the electoral meeting held at Dastgir Mosque, Maulana Muhammad Rafiq Fakhri was unanimously elected the new president of JUP District Jacobabad. In addition, Maulana Mehr Ali Sikandari was elected Senior Vice President and Maulana Muhammad Bakhsh Qasmi as General Secretary.

Dr. Danish, who is also the chairman of the Provincial Election Committee, administered the oath to the newly elected officials. In his speech, he stressed that the act of pushing peaceful followers into a corner is “in no way correct” and that JUP’s democratic process is the reason for its superiority over other schools of thought.

Other speakers, including Provincial Joint Secretary Hafiz Ghunoor Ali Qadri and Maulana Muhammad Aslam Langah, congratulated the new officials and stressed the need to activate organizational matters and strengthen local leadership.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to promote democratic and constitutional struggle and to formulate a future course of action for the protection of religious freedom and public rights. The participants also offered a special prayer for the nation, the religious scholars, and for the speedy recovery of the newly elected President Maulana Rafiq Fakhri.
