In a significant move to support the agricultural sector, Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has introduced a comprehensive relief package worth Rs15 billion for wheat farmers.
According to the announcement, the package includes direct financial assistance for 550,000 wheat growers, facilitated through the Kisan Card. Additionally, a complete waiver of abiana and fixed agricultural taxes has been implemented for this year to further aid the farmers.
The Chief Minister also revealed a four-month free storage option for wheat, aimed at mitigating the impacts of climate change on the agricultural community. Furthermore, the Punjab Government will cover the markup on loans up to Rs100 billion for flour mills and grain license holders to support wheat procurement efforts.
