Court orders police to admit three Covid affected accused in hospital

KARACHI:Court of Judicial Magistrate West on Tuesday ordered police to admit three accused in the hospital after they tested positive for Coronavirus.

 

It has been observed that coronavirus was spreading in police stations in different areas of the city. The accused, who were produced in the court for remand, are suffering from coronavirus. The Ittehad Town Police Station, Surjani Anti Car Lifting Cell Karachi (ACLC) and Gulshan-e-Maymar Police had arrested the accused, Adnan, Javed Rind and Nawaz.

 

According to the public prosecutor, Shamim Ahmed, the police received a two-day remand from the court. It was revealed on re-presentation that the accused are suffering from coronavirus. The court had sent the accused to jail on judicial remand, the prosecutor said, the police conducted a corona test before the accused were admitted to the jail and it reported that all the three accused were suffering from coronavirus, he said.

 

The prosecutor said prison officials refused to take the accused suffering from coronavirus, while the court ordered the accused to be admitted to the hospital. He said the police officer who presented the accused had also fallen to coronavirus. It was noted that the court staff was scared. There was a lot of urgency in the court. Prosecutor Shamim Ahmed said the accused were healthy when they were produced in the court for the first time.
