The local administration launched a major campaign against encroachments in Basirpur on Tuesday, demolishing illegal structures using heavy machinery and confiscating the goods of shopkeepers who had exceeded their designated limits.
The operation was carried out on the directive of Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Usman Javed, directly supervised by Assistant Commissioner Faisal Walid and SDEO Waseem Javed. Their oversight ensured decisive action against violations as part of a broader campaign to clear public spaces.
During this extensive cleanup, various illegal structures, including signboards, banners, and temporary sheds installed in front of shops along the roads, were systematically dismantled.
Officials confirmed that this action is in line with the ongoing directive from the Government of Punjab to tackle encroachments across the province. A clear message has been issued that individuals causing inconvenience to the public through such violations will not be tolerated.
The administration has expressed its resolve to continue these inspections impartially to ensure that all commercial activities remain within their legally defined boundaries. A formal advisory has also been issued to traders, urging them to comply voluntarily and refrain from creating obstructions for the general public.
