ISLAMABAD: The 5th death anniversary of the German doctor, Ruth Pfau who dedicated her life to eradicate leprosy in Pakistan, is being observed today (Wednesday).

She was a German–Pakistani Catholic nun of the Society of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary, and a physician. She moved from Germany to Pakistan in 1961.

She was honoured with the Hilal-i-Pakistan-, Hilal-i-Imtiaz-, Nishan-i-Quaid-e-Azam-, and the Sitara-i-Quaid-e-Azam award for her services to Pakistan. Dr Pfau, who was hailed as the Mother Teresa of Pakistan, passed away on this day in Karachi.
