DFP demands release of Kashmiri political prisoners

Srinagar, May 25, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has urged the government of India to release all Kashmiri political prisoners as a good will gesture on or after taking oath of office for the next term.

A DFP spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has become very powerful after sweeping the recently held elections so he must concentrate on becoming an international figure by resolving the political disputes like Kashmir.

He said, “The Kashmir dispute which is continuously consuming human lives has become a nuclear flashpoint between India and Pakistan, the two neighbouring countries, which have a very bright and larger role to play for the stability and peace of the South Asian region. So, both New Delhi and Islamabad must get the Kashmir dispute resolved to make way for a larger role on international level.”

The spokesman said the fresh dispensation at New Delhi, as a matter of beginning should announce releasing of all Kashmiri political prisoners as a goodwill gesture to create a situation which can lead to a resolution process.

He said both India and Pakistan have numerous issues to address at their domestic levels so it is high time for them to get engaged as mature democracies to find a final resolution of the long-pending Kashmir dispute and end the sufferings of Kashmiri people.
