DIG Islamabad Orders Crackdown on Criminal Gangs, Illegal Weapons, and Narcotics

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Islamabad Police, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, has launched a significant operation against criminal gangs, illegal weapon possession, and narcotics in the capital city. In a high-profile meeting on Thursday, attended by senior officials including SSP Operations Muhammad Shoaib Khan, SSP CTD, Zonal SPs, and SP Dolphin, the directive for a comprehensive crackdown was issued.

The meeting marked a decisive moment for Islamabad’s law enforcement as the DIG instructed the immediate arrest of proclaimed offenders and persistent criminals involved in major offenses. A particular focus was placed on dismantling gangs implicated in motorcycle and car theft, which have been a growing concern for the public.

DIG Tariq underscored the necessity of enhancing the effectiveness and visibility of police patrols across the city. He called for all patrol units to maintain a strong presence, which is crucial for deterring crime and ensuring public safety. Another key point discussed was the urgent need to apprehend individuals involved in the possession and public display of illegal arms, as well as those engaged in drug trafficking activities.

Reaffirming the force’s commitment, DIG Tariq stated, “All available resources will be utilized to combat crime,” emphasizing that safeguarding citizens’ lives and properties, along with maintaining public order, remain the paramount objectives of Islamabad Police.
