Digital property and professional tax survey can increase revenue collection: Mukesh Kumar Chawla

Karachi, October 10, 2018 (PPI-OT): Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation – Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that the property survey in Sukkur city should be completed in stipulated time and maximum number of property units should be brought under tax bracket. This he said while presiding over a meeting regarding Exploring Alternative Survey Methodologies in Sukkur, conducting Property and Professional Tax Survey and Develop Provincial Digitization Model here in his office.

Secretary Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Aijaz Ahmed Mahessar, Director General Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Director Sukkur Munir Zardari and others also attended the meeting. The meeting was informed that as many 72,105 property units had been marked and out of which 42,579 units had been surveyed, while 9756 total professional units had been identified, out of which 4,248 had been scanned. It was also decided that as soon as the property survey was completed in Sukkur, its scope would be enhanced to other parts of Sindh.

On this occasion Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Mukesh Kumar Chawla said that digital property survey could improve collection of revenue and minute details of property units must be collected. He directed the survey company to complete the task at earliest. It was informed in the meeting that presently as many as 9 lac property units were in Karachi and if Geographical Information System was used, it could increase upto 13 lac property units.
