Karachi, December 28, 2018 (PPI-OT): The DMC Central Chairman Rehan Hashmi has demanded from the Sindh government to provide machineries for the cleanliness of district central particularly lifting the garbage. Hashmi said Sindh government should issue clear instructions to Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) to lift the garbage so that areas should look clean and tidy. Chairman said the rehabilitation and uplifting of the area is continued despite the limited resources.
Chairman said this while talking to media during a whirl wind tour of the district central on Friday to examine the cleanliness and greenery in the area. Hashmi said at present DMCs need resources as well as funds if not funds than only machinery be provided. The heaps of garbage in district central was a threat to epidemic and serious diseases and dog biting cases are on the rise.
Thousands of complaints from the citizens pour in to lift the garbage, but due to limited resources and shortage of machinery has hampered the whole process. Sind Government has to pay their full amounts for the uplift of the area as garbage was taking the shape of hills, area people complain of cleanliness. Hashmi said DMC central was also doing the job of KWSB cleaning the sewerage lines and nullahs. Hashmi said from district central major garbage of the city passes through district central so this is the most congested district.
