Drug addict dies of overdose in Nasirabad

A 28-year-old father of three, Murtaza, died here today due to an overdose of narcotic pills, after which the grieving family demanded an immediate ban on the open sale of such items at medical stores across the city.

The deceased was identified as Murtaza Soomro, a resident of Shaikh Mohalla. When his condition worsened, his family took him to the local rural health center, but the medical staff could not save his life and he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Speaking to the media, the family said that Soomro was a laborer who, despite not being a heavy addict, had bought a large quantity of pills from a chemist at night. After consuming these pills, his condition deteriorated rapidly.

The grieving family appealed to the higher authorities, demanding a ban on the unchecked sale of these potent pills, and stressed that their widespread availability has led to many such tragedies and has “left the laps of many mothers empty.”

A wave of grief and sorrow spread through the area when the young man’s body arrived home.
