Effective Drainage Arrangements Restore Normalcy in Sukkur Despite Heavy Rainfall

Despite torrential rainfall that began at 2 am in Sukkur City, the municipal administration took timely measures to ensure effective drainage. Rainwater was swiftly cleared from all areas. The first spell of rain lasted from 2 am to 7 am, during which the drainage process was completed. Although the rain continues intermittently, the administration is continuously working on drainage to prevent any inconvenience to the citizens.

The Sindh government spokesperson and Mayor of Sukkur, Barrister Arsalan Islam Sheikh, visited various disposal stations, including Jail Garden Disposal, Police Headquarters Disposal, Clock Tower Disposal, Brohi Disposal, and Shah Faisal Disposal during the rain. He closely inspected the machinery and pumping process powered by generators in the absence of electricity. Furthermore, mobile machinery installed in low-lying and sensitive areas of the city is also being utilized for water extraction.

The Mayor of Sukkur stated that the administration is fully present in the field during the rain and is directly monitoring the drainage process. Areas where water used to stagnate for days in the past are now being cleared swiftly. Expressing satisfaction with the urban situation, the Mayor mentioned that markets and commercial activities in the central areas of the city are continuing as usual, while cleanliness is also being ensured along with drainage.

He instructed the officers that no negligence in the drainage process will be tolerated, and every possible facility should be provided to the citizens. The Mayor of Sukkur added that the Sindh government and municipal administration stand with the people and are making every possible effort to ensure that citizens do not face any difficulties, while the city’s situation is being continuously monitored.
