Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, in a message on World Epilepsy Day, also known as Purple Day, stressed the elimination of social prejudice and negative attitudes and appealed to the public to abandon superstitions and misconceptions associated with this neurological disease.
In a message issued from the Chief Minister’s House, Mr. Shah today affirmed that the provincial administration is committed to providing quality and free treatment to individuals suffering from this disease.
He stressed that epilepsy is a treatable disease and should not be a cause for fear, saying that with timely diagnosis and continuous medical care, patients can lead completely normal lives.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the purpose of observing this international day is to promote global awareness about this disease.
To assist patients, Mr. Shah confirmed that expert neurologists and all necessary medicines are available in the government hospitals of Sindh.
He concluded by saying that all citizens should play their part in creating a healthy and epilepsy-aware Sindh.
