The State Bank of Pakistan today announced that all banks across the country will remain closed for public dealing on the first day of Ramadan-ul-Mubarak, 1447 A.H., to facilitate the mandatory annual deduction of Zakat.
This directive designates the first day of the holy month as a “Bank Holiday,” during which customer-facing services will be completely halted. The closure applies to all banks, Development Financial Institutions (DFIs), and Microfinance Banks (MFBs) operating in the country.
Despite the suspension of public transactions, the central bank has clarified that it will not be a holiday for staff. All employees of the aforementioned financial organisations are required to attend their offices and treat the day as a normal working day, with the sole exception of dealing with the public.
