KARACHI: The first Hajj flight of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) carrying 291 pilgrims flew to Madina from Karachi airport on Wednesday.
A function was held on the occasion of departure of the first Hajj flight to Madina from Karachi airport. Secretary Auqaf and Zakat, Ushr Jawad Sibghatullah Mahar, PIA Chief Executive, officials of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and other officials were also present on the occasion.
It should be noted that this is also the first Hajj flight from Karachi after the two-year ban due to Covid crisis. Adviser to the Chief Minister on Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr Fayyaz Ali Butt, on behalf of Sindh government presented flower garlands to the pilgrims and expressed best wishes to them.
He requested the pilgrims to offer special prayers at the holy places for the development and prosperity of the Islamic world, Pakistan and Sindh in particular. He said that it was a welcome development that corona restrictions had been lifted and Muslims from all over the world are leaving for Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj.
