First phase of expansion project at Government Anwar Piracha Hospital Sukkur nears completion

The first phase of the expansion project at Government Anwar Piracha Hospital Sukkur is almost complete and the work is underway with the financial support of philanthropists, which includes the removal of weak plaster from ceilings and walls.

The condition of the public health facility was reviewed by the Commissioner of Sukkur Division, Abid Saleem Qureshi, during his visit today, where he inspected the progress of the ongoing upgradation work. The hospital’s Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr. Asad Sarwar Soomro and other medical staff were also present on the occasion.

The Commissioner, accompanied by the MS, conducted a detailed inspection of the ongoing work in the operation theatre, laboratory, and ophthalmology and dentistry outpatient departments.

Mr. Qureshi thanked the community philanthropists involved in this “noble cause.” He said, “When you want to do something with good intentions, even if it is for a government institution, such unsung heroes of society come forward to strengthen your hands. The only condition is the establishment of trust.”

Briefing on the project, MS Dr. Asad Sarwar Soomro said that in the initial phase, weak plaster sections were removed. He confirmed, “Now in the second phase, the repair work is underway under the supervision of the hospital administration.”

Dr. Soomro also outlined plans for future service expansion, saying that the hospital administration is striving to improve other treatment facilities. He said that upon completion of the current renovations, the services of an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) consultant will be acquired at the hospital, and ENT operations will commence shortly thereafter.

The Medical Superintendent expressed, “It will be my endeavor to provide better medical services to patients in Sukkur and make Government Anwar Piracha Hospital a model hospital.”

Commissioner Qureshi appreciated the “spirit and dedication” of Dr. Soomro, who was appointed to the post of MS just a month ago.
