In a significant development following the violent clash between two factions of the Bhand community, the police on Tuesday arrested five main accused and have established a permanent security post in the Kishorpur area to restore law and order and ensure public safety.
This was provided by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dur-e-Tabish on Tuesday during an important media briefing held on the special directives of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shaheed Benazirabad, Sameer Noor Channa.
During the briefing, ASP Dur-e-Tabish confirmed that the police conducted raids at various locations, resulting in the detention of five individuals identified as the main accused in the clash. Those arrested include Ustad Mehar Ali Bhand, Roshan Ali Bhand, Sameer Bhand, Gul Hassan Bhand, and Ibn Bhand.
To ensure a fair and transparent inquiry into the matter, SSP Sameer Noor Channa has formed a high-level investigation team. This special team, comprising Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and other senior officers, will operate under the direct supervision of the SSP.
Accountability has been emphasized for the investigation, and the team has been mandated to submit daily progress reports. The ASP affirmed that any leniency or negligence during the investigation process will not be tolerated.
To prevent future conflicts and address public concerns, a permanent “Bhand Police Picket” has been established at the scene. ASP Dur-e-Tabish announced that a heavy contingent of police personnel equipped with modern weapons has been deployed at the picket to provide a sense of security to the residents and eliminate fear and panic.
The ASP reiterated the police’s commitment, stating that those responsible for the loss of human lives and taking the law into their own hands deserve no concession. He confirmed that the entire area has been cordoned off and the situation is now completely under control, while raids have been intensified to search for the remaining fugitive suspects.
