Flood affected people of K N Shah, Mehar, and Kambar-Shahdadkot protest for relief goods in Larkana

Larkana: Flood-affected women, men and innocent children belonging to different cities of Sindh held a sit-in by blocking the road at Jinnah Bagh Chowk on Monday against the non-evacuation of water and the alleged abuses of the Larkana district government administration. Due to road blockade all kinds of traffic remained suspended and commuters suffered the most in this scorching hot weather.

On that occasion, protestors Sohrab Shabrani, Arbab Kalhoro, Karam Hussain Luhar, Bachal Shabrani, Muhammad Achar Shabrani and others along with their women and innocent children shouted in front of the journalists and said that we are from various villages of districts Qamber-Shahdadkot and Jacobabad, towns Osta Muhammad, Gaibidero, Garhi Khero and other villages. They said that our houses were completely destroyed in the recent flash flood, so we migrated from there and had a shelter in the Government Girls College of Larkana.

They alleged that a few days ago Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah came to our school along with Deputy Commissioner Larkana Tariq Manzoor Chandio and Mukhtiarkar Niaz Syal and other officials and we cried before them that we have not yet been given rations, medicines, tents and other things, on which the provincial minister took the list of victims from us and instructed the DC and Mukhtiarkar Larkana to provide all the necessary facilities of life to these victims, but unfortunately Mukhtiarkar Niaz Sial did nothing and goods reached in our name are being distributed by him to other people of his choice from Suhail Siyal’s bungalow which is high-handedness and unjustified.

They said he is now threatening us to vacate the school which is cruel and excessive. They appealed to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Provincial Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and other officials to take notice of the matter and remove the dictator Niaz Sial and provide us with the necessary facilities of life.

In another protest held by victims of K N Shah and Mehar, they also alleged that no relief goods have been supplied to them and tents meant for them have been given to the relatives, near and dear ones and friends of the Larkana district administration and politicians. Irfan Luhar, Ali Hassan Chandio and others said that they have been staying at the government school of Sachal Colony but they have been ignored since the very first day of their arrival.

They said no tents and other relief goods have been given to them and now teachers of the school are pressuring them to vacate the school to start education but where would we go because our houses are either submerged under water or they have collapsed. They also demanded help.
