Online delivery platform foodpanda has expanded its 2026 road safety initiative to the capital, distributing certified protective helmets to its delivery partners in a move aimed at improving occupational safety standards within the nation”s gig economy.
The event in Islamabad, which follows a recent launch of the programme in Karachi, saw active couriers receive high-quality safety gear in a ceremony attended by local officials, according to a statement issued today.
According to the company, the distribution marks the first step in a broader strategy focused on ‘Rider Care’, intended to establish new benchmarks for safety in the sector and ensure its fleet is properly equipped for urban road conditions. The initiative follows what the organisation described as a year of “transformative growth” in 2025.
‘Our growth in 2025 was driven by the commitment and resilience of our delivery riders. As we step into the new year, our foremost priority is to make our logistics network the safest in the country,’ stated Ahsan Malik, Head of Logistics at foodpanda Pakistan.
‘The helmet distribution initiative marks a significant operational milestone,” he added. “By providing our fleet with certified protective gear, we are making a direct investment in the safety and well-being of the individuals who keep our delivery network running – ensuring they return home safely every single day.’
Beyond the provision of physical equipment, the company is also implementing mandatory road safety workshops for its couriers, organised in collaboration with local traffic police authorities to promote a culture of disciplined driving.
This latest campaign builds upon previous safety programmes which, the organisation noted, resulted in a discernible increase in safety awareness among its fleet. By prioritising the health and safety of its delivery personnel, foodpanda aims to strengthen its service reliability for the year ahead.
