Foolproof security will be ensured for Christian community on Christmas: Inspector General of Police Sindh

The Inspector General of Police Sindh has directed law enforcement agencies across the province to implement comprehensive security protocols for the Christian community ahead of Christmas, following an official request stressing the constitutional rights of religious minorities.

The directive was issued on Tuesday in response to a formal letter from Sindh government spokesperson Sukhdev Hemnani, who is also a member of the Sindh Human Rights Commission.

In his letter to the Inspector General, Mr. Hemnani emphasized the need for stringent surveillance and coordinated security planning, citing the constitutional clauses that guarantee the right to life, religious freedom, equality, and the protection of minorities.

In compliance with the order, all Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) have been instructed to implement detailed security and traffic management strategies for worship services and community gatherings during the festive period.

The spokesperson stressed that the protection of religious minorities and their places of worship is a constitutional duty and a top priority for the provincial administration.

He added that the Sindh government, under the leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, continues to take institutional measures to protect minority rights and promote interfaith harmony.

Mr. Hemnani affirmed that the government will remain on high alert during the Christmas festivities, and all relevant departments have been directed to ensure a safe and peaceful environment across Sindh.
