Four men were killed and a minor girl was critically injured after unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate fire in Killi Baduwan, a locality in Balochistan’s Killa Abdullah district, police said on Sunday.
Police said the attackers fled the scene immediately after carrying out the assault. Authorities launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the incident and identify those responsible.
According to preliminary police reports, the deceased were identified as Ubaidullah, son of Fazal Muhammad; Ziaur Rahman, son of Abdul Bashir; Aymal Khan, son of Rahim; and Muhammad Shahid, son of Rahim. All four victims were residents of Killi Baduwan in Killa Abdullah district.
The injured girl, identified as Bibi Saniya, daughter of Nasir Ahmed and a resident of Killi Roh Shahjan Masezai, was taken to the Trauma Center at Masezai Ada. After receiving emergency medical treatment, she was referred to Quetta for specialized care because of the severity of her injuries.
Following the completion of medico-legal procedures and post-mortem examinations at the Trauma Center in Masezai Ada, the bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families in the presence of police officials.
After the attack, relatives of the victims staged a protest by blocking the Quetta-Chaman Highway near Killi Baduwan. The protesters alleged that the assault had been carried out by former Afghan soldiers wearing police and Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF) uniforms. They further claimed that individuals identified as Mullah Kakozai, Safar Muhammad and Muhammad Isa Kakozai led the attackers. The allegations have not been independently verified by authorities.
The Quetta-Chaman Highway remained closed to traffic at the time this report was filed.
