KHAIRPUR:Four people were killed and several others injured in different incidents in district Khairpur during the last 24 hours.
A clash between Shaikh and Mangnejo communities over an old enmity took place in village Ilyas Mangnejo within the jurisdiction of Sobhodero police station. Both groups exchanged fire in which Shabana, 26, was killed and over a dozen persons, including Umed Ali Mangnejo, Shabir Mangnejo and Sahib Shaikh, were injured. The body and injured were shifted to Gambat and other local hospitals. One other villager Sahib Khan Shaikh succumbed to his injuries at the Gambat hospital.
Sobhodero police have established a picket in the volatile area and controlled the situation. They have arrested 18 accused from both sides and registered two cases against 72 people of both sides.
Separately, two groups of Jamro community clashed at village Gul Muhammad Jamro near Kumb over a land dispute, in which youth Afaq Ahmed Jamro was injured. He was shifted to a local hospital where he succumbed to the bullet injuries. Kumb police could not register the case till filing of this story.
Meanwhile, unidentified armed motorcyclist shot dead primary teacher Abid Hussain Chang near Faiz Gunj. The local police have registered a case against three armed persons and started further investigation.
