A new mobile medical unit has been launched to address the critical lack of healthcare in remote and disaster-affected parts of rural Sindh, expanding a vital service that has already provided medical attention to more than 23,000 individuals in the past year.
According to a statement today, the state-of-the-art, 20-foot clinic-on-wheels is the fourth such unit from the non-profit Shine Humanity, developed with financial backing from the AKD Group to serve underprivileged communities.
The formal inauguration ceremony for the new Mobile Urgent Care (MUC) unit took place at the residence of Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, the Chairman of AKD Group.
These mobile medical facilities form a cornerstone of the organisation’s rural healthcare and emergency response strategy, an initiative established in the wake of the devastating floods of 2022 to reach communities in hard-to-access areas.
Each mobile unit is fully equipped with certified doctors, trained medical personnel, essential medicines, and diagnostic equipment, enabling the delivery of prompt and effective medical services directly at a community”s doorstep.
The newly commissioned vehicle will travel across the districts of Badin, Sujawal, and Tharparkar, delivering urgent medical care to populations where healthcare facilities are either extremely limited or non-existent.
Over the last year, existing mobile clinics have been active in other rural areas of the province, including Gharo, Sujawal, Thatta, Mirpur Sakro, and Makli.
Faheem Khan, Chief Executive Officer of Shine Humanity, stated that through this new unit, they are extending healthcare “beyond cities and paved roads, directly reaching the communities that need them the most.”
Expressing his best wishes for the project, Aqeel Karim Dhedhi conveyed his hope for the initiative”s success and continued growth, adding, “we seek guidance from Allah at every step so that this effort proves beneficial for the community.”
