FPCCI Energy Committee Urges Government Focus on Sector Improvement

Karachi, The FPCCI Central Standing Committee on Energy has called on the new government, led by Prime Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, to prioritize the enhancement of Pakistan's energy sector. During its second meeting, convened by Malik Khuda Bakhsh, the committee discussed developing strategic proposals to address the sector's challenges and foster growth.

According to Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Energy Committee is set to collaborate closely with business leaders and technocrats to craft actionable recommendations aimed at strengthening the national energy landscape. These proposals will be submitted to the Ministry of Energy under the guidance of FPCCI President Atif Ikram Shaikh, intending to catalyze sectoral development and attract investment.

The meeting, attended by prominent figures including Imran Akhtar from OGRA and Raja Imranullah from PSO, served as a platform to deliberate on utilizing existing energy resources and exploring new avenues to bolster the industry. Discussions also extended to potential fiscal policy adjustments, emphasizing the need to revise duties, sales taxes, and other levies to stimulate local manufacturing and job creation.

Malik Khuda Bakhsh emphasized the committee's commitment to supporting the government and relevant stakeholders in surmounting energy sector hurdles, projecting optimism for Pakistan's trajectory toward sustainable energy advancement. Moreover, he highlighted the committee's intention to submit a comprehensive working paper to the government, detailing recommendations for policy reform and industry support.

The FPCCI's proactive approach, leveraging expert insights and sectoral analysis, underscores its role in shaping Pakistan's energy policy landscape, aiming to usher in a new era of industry prosperity and national economic development.
