Gilani Calls for National Unity, Cites Iqbal’s Vision for a Sovereign Pakistan

Chairman of the Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, today underscored the necessity for concerted national efforts to inspire the younger generation with the teachings of Allama Iqbal, advocating for a renewed spirit of unity and cooperation across the country.

In a formal statement delivered in the House, Gilani, speaking on behalf of the Senate, commemorated the enduring vision of the national poet. He credited Iqbal”s philosophy with laying the very foundation for a separate, independent, and sovereign homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent, which materialized as Pakistan.

The Chairman characterized Dr. Iqbal as the “poet of the East,” whose intellectual and spiritual influence inspired the hearts and minds of Muslims far beyond the subcontinent, reaching from the Nile to Kashgar.

The statement served as a glowing tribute from the upper house of parliament to the celebrated philosopher and poet, marking the national celebration of his legacy.
