Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, has stated that honey and olive oil produced in Pakistan have the potential to become global brands for the country, stressing the necessity of promoting the domestic use of olive oil.

The Special Assistant identified the recent SME Expo as a significant milestone and confirmed that similar exhibitions would be organised for business clusters in the future.

Mr Khan asserted that for the first time in the nation”s history, the government is taking practical measures for the development of the SME sector. He urged SMEDA to remain in close contact with these enterprises and organise regular meetings to empower the sector and resolve its problems.
He added that public awareness regarding locally manufactured “Made in Pakistan” products can also be enhanced by organising such events.
In a separate directive, the Special Assistant instructed the authorities concerned to prepare a comprehensive plan, in collaboration with SMEs and SMEDA, for the salt mining industry, stating that it should be developed along modern lines.
