The Punjab government on Wednesday entered into an agreement with the Dubai-based Damac Group for the tokenization of key government and commercial assets, including the upcoming Nawaz Sharif IT City.
Aimed at introducing new financial technologies in the province, the development was a central outcome of a meeting between a Damac delegation and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
During the talks, the chief minister extended a formal invitation to the Damac Group to make strategic investments in various sectors of Punjab.
In response, Amira Hussain Sajwani, Chief Executive Officer of Damac Group, expressed the company’s interest in exploring investment opportunities in the province.
The visiting delegation was given a comprehensive briefing on potential investment avenues, including prominent mega-projects such as the Central Business District (CBD) Punjab and the Quaid District.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz highlighted the province’s economic strengths, stating that Punjab represents Pakistan’s largest digital economy and is responsible for 65 percent of the country’s IT exports.
She added that the region produces a valuable workforce of over 25,000 information technology graduates annually.
The chief minister outlined her administration’s vision, saying, “We are making Punjab a gateway for foreign direct investment (FDI) into Pakistan in digital assets and new technology.”
