Following a detailed briefing on the Gul Plaza tragedy, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has ordered authorities to take stringent legal measures against all individuals found responsible for the incident. The directive was issued during a meeting at the Governor House with the newly appointed Additional Inspector General of Police for Karachi, Azad Khan.
During the session, the Additional IG provided the governor with a comprehensive update on the current status and progress of the ongoing investigations into the tragic event, according to a statement issued from the Governor House today.
Governor Tessori underscored the critical importance of maintaining lasting peace in the metropolis, describing the city as the economic lifeline of Pakistan and affirming that ensuring stable law and order is the government”s paramount objective.
He highlighted the necessity of installing modern surveillance cameras across the city as an essential step towards safeguarding residents and enhancing public safety.
In response, Additional IG Khan assured the governor that extensive efforts are underway to bolster the capacity of the police force and implement effective policing strategies to preserve security and order throughout the city.
The governor also took the opportunity to congratulate Mr Khan on his appointment as the city”s police chief and extended his best wishes for his new role.
