Govt prioritized promoting sports: B’stan adviser

QUETTA:Abdul Khaliq Hazara, Advisor to Chief Minister for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs has said the incumbent provincial government had prioritized promoting sports in the province and that was why events of sports were being organized in different areas of the province.

 

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, he said that services rendered by Balochistan Cycling Association for promotion of cycling discipline in the province were praise worthy. He said the contribution of Col (Retd) Younas Changezi in the field of sports could not be denied. These views were expressed by him while addressing a function held under the auspices of Balochistan Cycling Association in connection with distributing prizes amongst the winners and organizers of “All Balochistan Col (Retd) Younas Changezi Cycle Race”.

 

Earlier, while delivering telephonic speech, Col (Retd) Younas Changezi said that promotion of sports could help minimize terrorism. He said that he had been striving for promotion of sports in the province. He praised services of Idrees Haider Khuwaja, President, Pakistan Cycling Federation, Liaquat Ali Tareen, President, Balochistan Cycling Association and Gul Muhammad Kakar, General Secretary to have arranged such a mega event of cycling in the province on self-help basis.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Liaquat Ali Tareen, President, Balochistan Cycling Association and Gul Muhammad Kakar, General Secretary said: “All Balochistan Col (Retd) Younas Changezi Cycle Race” was arranged in recognition of the services of Col (Retd) Younas Changezi in the field of sports.

 

They said sports taught the lesson of love, unity and brotherhood. On the occasion, shields were presented to President, Balochistan Wushu Association, Ishaq Ali Hazara, representative of Balochistan Olympic Association Ayub Khilji, office bearers of Balochistan Cycling Association Shair Muhammad, Sadiq Agha, Nazar Muhammad and cyclist of WAPDA Ahmedullah while cash prizes and trophies were distributed amongst Kifayatullah, 1st position, Atif Ahmed, 2nd position, Dawood Shah, 3rd position and Kareem Khan, 4th position. Function was followed by a luncheon.
