(Govt): Sindh conducts 18000 Covid tests daily

Larkana:Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that Sindh is conducting 18000 to 19000 COVID-19 tests daily which are higher than other provinces.

He said Sindh was the only province which took its own decisions of imposing lockdown and we were successful in halting the spread of pandemic. He was talking to media persons Friday after offering condolences with Advocate Asif Ali Soomro over demise of his mother.

Shah said the federal government had stated that people will die of hunger due to COVID-19 lockdowns and claimed that nobody died of hunger during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown. He said he has always been saying that Covid-19 has not gone but it’s still there.

He said we took required preventive measures and will continue to do so. He said because of the pandemic we closed business and schools for which we faced troubles. He said when the Center took actions and made arrangements, positive cases started reducing. He said the pandemic will only be eliminated when its vaccine is produced and till then we should adopt all precautions, wear facemasks and implement SOPs.

To a question that who is sitting with the associates of Altaf he said previously they were afraid of Altaf but now they are sitting together. Without naming PTI, Shah said they know that if they parted ways then their government will fall down. He said PTI people are spreading hate but it does not suit us because Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had talked about reconciliation. He said the 90 year record was broken during recent rains in Karachi but we were on roads even though there was not our local government. He said 14 to 15 districts of Sindh suffered huge losses during the rains in which cotton and other crops were damaged.

He said he informed the prime minister during his visit about the damages in the province. Murad Shah said Sindh is in more need of help now and we want that Centre should help us. He said the Center should give us our share of NFC and we will serve our people ourselves. PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, political secretary to the PPP Chief, Jameel Ahmed Soomro and other PPP leaders were also present on the occasion.
