Health Minister Dr. Zafar Mirza inaugurates state-of-the-art infectious diseases ward and kidney transplant unit at PIMS

Islamabad, May 08, 2019 (PPI-OT): Minister of State for Health Dr. Zafar Mirza visited PIMS here today to inaugurate the newly constructed Infectious Diseases Ward and the Kidney transplant unit. The Minister visited Dialysis and Nephrology Wards which have recently been renovated to ensure improved patient services. Health Minister went round the hospital and inquired after the health of the patients. The Minister also visited PIMS “ Dastarkhwan” which is an innovative idea for provision of free meals to attendants of patients and visitors. More than one thousand are served daily.

The Minister also appreciated the fact that patients’ attendants are also being facilitated at the newly constructed waiting area in the hospital. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Zafar Mirza said that government in line with vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan is committed to provide best medical services to the people. He said the government is striving towards universal health coverage in order to ensure access to health facilities for all.

Dr. Zafar Mirza said that special focus will be on improving primary Health care as unfortunately this area remained neglected in past and there can be no improvement in health sector of the country without strengthening primary health-care system. Later, Health Minister Dr. Zafar Mirza and Secretary Health Capt. (Retd.) Zahid Saeed also held meetings with PIMS Clinical heads of Department and Nurses, Paramedical staff, YDA, IDF and association representatives.
